Origins Evaluation

From experiencing all of the workshops, I enjoyed working with colour palettes from images, like in weave and print because the work I produced felt more personal to me. I used an Alexander McQueen image for print and was cautious of how much of each colour I used in the majority of the prints to represent the image. Lucienne Day and James Canete influenced my weaves; I used the contrasting colours of yellow/orange and purple the most to constitute the image. The drawings from the beginning influenced my embroidery samples, which I either used discreetly by combining a few or in an obvious way by using repetition. I preferred hand knitting to machine knitting due to having the experience and satisfaction of hand making a material. My Embroidery samples weren't up to the standard I would have liked but this rotation made me work more quickly and fluently. I found I liked the textured samples the most as they were instantly more fascinating to me. I could produce a lot of samples quickly in print which I liked because there were more options to choose from for the collection. I preferred my screen prints the most as they represented the colours of my image more accurately than sublimation and disperse printing. I delved into weave the most because I preferred the process of it and the control you could have with it. I think my strengths are in weave and print and my weaknesses are more in knit, embroidery and mixed media.
